For several years Satan whispered to me “how do you know you are going to Heaven”? My husband was minister of a church, and even as I made visits with him, gave the ‘plan’ of salvation and was blessed to see many accept Christ as their Savior, my heart stayed engaged in sadness, that assurance was not mine. I sang solos, taught Sunday School, and cooked for those who had sickness or death in the family, while I struggled in silence to be sure of my own salvation.
As you may suspect, Bible study became more intense as I searched the scriptures. In addition, I found books such as “Pilgrims Progress” and many others for comfort and assurance. Several things came together to soundly defeat Satan in his effort to hinder Sue New in being free to serve the Lord with all her heart. The main thing that helped were these questions I had to answer: Do you trust the Lord or yourself? Him! Did He die for you? He did. Did He promise to save you from destruction if you believed He was born of a virgin, that he was God in the flesh, that He died on the cross, rose again in three days and is now in Heaven making intercession? Oh, yes, to all those.., then this question sort of knocked me in the head: “what problem do you have, then???” If all those are true, then I was casting doubt on God’s word.., worrying that He would not keep me safe at the end of time. That is not casting doubt on me, but on Him and His Word and that is a no-no.
Well, dear reader, you can see the problem, but then this scripture, Hebrews 7:25, seemed to stay before my face:
“Therefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
How much more secure can you get? “Uttermost” is as far as you can go.., and that word leaves no doubt once you accept God’s condition (to believe Him), then “saved to the uttermost” is written in stone.
Salvation is up to you only in one point, and that point is accepting it. The ‘WAY’ has been made in detailed precision and we can add nothing to or take anything away. It is on His terms, and His terms are kind, merciful and remarkably successful. It is like the question in the song: What more can He say than to you He has said.., you, who unto Jesus have fled!?
So, dear reader, if you have never given thought to putting your eternal soul in God’s loving hands, I pray you will see it as something you would like to do! Now and then I may add a scripture that is especially sweet to me, and you may find it is one of yours, as well.

I am so proud of you. What a great idea. Is this the book Dad proofread? Hope to get to Dallas again one day.
